Lab Alumni

THUYVAN LUU, PH.D
BASIC & BIOMEDICAL SCIENCES
2017 - 2024

Thuyvan’s PhD research investigated the role of MS4A receptors in regulating Alzheimer’s disease pathogenesis through modulating inflammatory and phagocytic responses in microglia. We wish her the best and look forward to celebrating the next steps in her scientific career.

SUNG JIN PARK, PH.D
POSTDOCTORAL FELLOW
2018 - 2024

During his time with the Greer Lab, Sung Jin investigated novel mechanisms by which mammals sense behaviorally relevant olfactory stimuli. He has accepted a position as an Assistant Professor at Sungkyunkwan University (SKKU) School of Medicine in Korea and we are so proud of him. Congratulations Sung Jin!

HAO-CHING JIANG, PH.D
BASIC & BIOMEDICAL SCIENCES
2017 - 2024

Hao-Ching’s PhD research investigated how mammals interpret chemical information to generate innate responses. We are excited to see her future unfold and wish the best of luck in her Postdoctoral journey.

I-HAO WANG, PH.D
BASIC & BIOMEDICAL SCIENCES
2017 - 2024

I-Hao’s PhD research focused on single-cell transcriptome diversity of olfactory sensory neurons and included spatial transcriptomic reconstruction of the mouse olfactory glomerular map. He is now working as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard and we are so excited to see where his scientific career leads him next.

KATHERINE (KIT) MOCARSKI, PH.D
BASIC & BIOMEDICAL SCIENCES
2017 - 2024

Kit was a joint doctoral student with Dr. Robert J. Brown. She focused on transcriptomics within the central nervous system and pursued new approaches for understanding ALS. Congratulations and best of luck on your next adventure Kit!

TAYLOR BUSHIKA
PREP FELLOW
2021 - 2023

Taylor conducted research focused on Huntington’s Disease through the Post-baccalaureate Research Education Program (PREP) at UMass. She is now off to Williams College and MA College of Liberal Arts working and teaching in the chemistry field. We wish nothing but the best in the next steps of her career.

ANNA WORTMAN, PH.D
BASIC & BIOMEDICAL SCIENCES
2017 - 2023

After graduating with her PhD, Anna has transitioned into life sciences consulting. She now lives in San Diego, CA and works for LifeSci Consulting Inc., where she implements commercial and business strategy initiatives for pharmaceutical clients. Congratulations Anna!

DEVON COOPER
LEAD RESEARCH ASSISTANT
2019 - 2023

Devon graduated from Wesleyan University with B.A.s in Neuroscience & Behavior and Psychology. Here in the Greer Lab she worked broadly with MS4As in both primary microglia & microglial cell lines. She also worked on small molecule discovery for the inhibition of Ms4As. We wish her the best of luck in the next steps of her Scientific Career.

LUKE DALY, MS
GRADUATE STUDENT
2018 - 2022

Luke was a joint doctoral student with Dr. Fen-Biao Gao. He worked broadly on the role chronic inflammation plays in the progression of neurodegenerative disorders and focused on new approaches to understand Frontal Temporal Dementia. We are excited to see where his scientific career leads him next.

HAIDER ALTIMIMI
POSTDOCTORAL FELLOW
2018 - 2021

Haider's interests are in brain plasticity mechanisms in health and disease. In his previous studies, he investigated synaptic plasticity in the context of stress and antidepressants, with a focus on the contribution of glial factors. In the Greer lab he investigated the link between microglial Ms4a and the development of Alzheimer's Disease. We wish him the best on the next step in his career.

JULIANA DELGADO
NIH PREP FELLOW
2019 - 2020

Juliana has a B.S. in Biology from American University. As an NIH PREP Student at UMass Medical School, she looked broadly at the role of Ms4a chemoreceptors on synapse loss associated with Alzheimer’s Disease. The Lab sends our best wishes as she continues her journey towards a PhD at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.

Daria2.jpg

DARIA SOTO
INTERN
2018 - 2020

Daria is now attending University of Connecticut and is pursuing a double major in Pathobiology and Animal Science on the pre-vet track. We are so excited to see her future in science unfold!

CESAR DOMINGUEZ
RESEARCH ASSISTANT
2017 - 2019

Cesar graduated from Williams College with a B.A. in Biology and a minor in French. In the Greer Lab, he utilized his strong interest in biochemistry to help elucidate the functional role of MS4A chemoreceptors in microglia. The Greer Lab wishes him the best of luck on his next adventure pursuing a PhD of his own at MIT.
